Admissions
Process |
- Students
wishing to pursue degree studies with the university will complete an
Application Form providing training and experience, and other relevant
information.
- Copies
of transcripts should be attached to the Application.
No
degree can be earned through Golden State University solely by the payment
of the fee and based on prior credits or learning experience.
Life
Learning can only apply to undergraduate programs.
A
student must complete at least one third of their degree through formal
course work and /or thesis/dissertation with the university.

Evaluation & Assessment of Prior
Learning Experience |
During
the admissions process, all components or an applicant's background will
be thoroughly reviewed and compared to the University's course work requirements.
This assessment allows the university to determine which courses have already
been satisfied. |

Transfer
Credit |
Transcripts
of previously earned academic work are evaluated and credit may be transferred
to the university to meet existing course work requirements. |

|
Life-Learning
Credit (Undergraduate Program Only) |
Once
all previously earned transfer credit has been established, an applicant's
non-collegiate background will be evaluated. During this assessment, all
facets of an applicants background will be measured for academic equivalency
and potential credit.
In undergraduate degree programs, course credit may be awarded for relevant
occupational experience, completion of company training programs, military
schooling, professional or personal interest workshops, seminars, or special
licenses and credentials that may have been earned during the applicants
career. |

Academic
Adviser |
Upon enrollment Into the student's degree program, the student will be
assigned a university faculty member. The faculty member will act as the
students mentor during the duration of their degree program.
The faculty member will also be the student's main tutor and point of
academic reference. Other faculty members will be assigned where necessary
to assist, guide and support with tutoring and assessment as and when
required.
The student Is encouraged to communicate with their mentors using email
phone, fax or post at any time when assistance Is required.
Should
the student experience any problems with communication with their academic
mentor, they should, in the first instance, contact the Academic Registrar
of the university. |

Course
Work Study Guides |
The
remaining courses that the student is required to take to complete their
degree program will be completed using Study Guides provided by the university.
The Study Guide will contain a mum needs statement, the contents of the
course, the study method, a suggested study program and a guided program
of study, using the text as the main study reference, with some supplementary
commentary or references. Each subject has an assessment task, which Is
usually a supervised exam, set questions or the production of a scholarly
paper on some aspects of the course to a length appropriate to the degree
being studied. A Referencing Style Guide is provided to every student.
All course assessment work will be sent to the student's academic mentor
for marking and grading. If the subject requires a supervised exam for
assessment, the student will Inform their supervisor when they are ready
to take the exam, and the necessary arrangements will be made. |

Thesis
/ Dissertation |
The
student will be provided with the comprehensive Final Project, Thesis &
Dissertation Guide of the university.
Doctoral
students will be under the supervision of an academic supervisor and the
Academic Review Committee during the preparation of their dissertation. |

|
Adward
of Degree |
The
Academic Registrar will recommend graduation with the appropriate degree
for the student once the following requirements have been met:
- The
students academic supervisor informs the Registrar that the student
has satisfactorily completed all necessary
main work.
- The
Academic Review Committee informs the Registrar that the student has
satisfactorily completed their thesis/dissertation.

The student has made full payment of all fees and costs.
The university will then award the degree and send the diploma and transcript
to the student.
The
student will be advised of any graduation ceremony of the university where
they may formally receive their diploma.
